We’re excited to announce that Western Financial Group’s non-profit arm, Western Communities Foundation, has awarded $5,000 to the Olympic Heights School Playground Revitalization Project through its Community Infrastructure Grant. This support will help us move closer to our vision of creating a more accessible and inclusive playground for OHS students, families and the surrounding community.
A project of this scale takes many partners and many contributions. While every grant brings us closer to our fundraising goal, support from organizations like Western Financial Group also helps demonstrate the strength of our community’s vision for a better playground.
The revitalization project will begin with a new accessible recycled rubber surface, replacing the existing pea gravel and making the playground easier for children using wheelchairs, walkers and other mobility aids to navigate. The project will also include replacing aging playground equipment, creating a safer and more inclusive space where children of different ages and abilities can play together.
“Every contribution to this project matters, and Western Financial Group’s $5,000 grant is a wonderful example of how community support can help turn a big vision into reality. We’re grateful to have Western Financial Group join us in creating a playground where more children can play, connect and feel included.”
— Michelle McMullen, Playground Subcommittee Member
Community Support in Action
“One of the things we appreciate most about community projects is that their impact often extends far beyond what was originally imagined. A playground, gathering space, or community hub becomes a place where friendships are formed, traditions begin, and people feel connected to something bigger than themselves.”
— Krystal Hoover, Western Communities Foundation Lead
With a $625,000 fundraising goal, we know this project will take a collective effort. Every grant, donation and community fundraising initiative brings us closer to creating a revitalized playground that OHS students, families, the local community can enjoy for years to come.
We’re grateful to Western Financial Group and Western Communities Foundation for being part of that effort and for helping us take another step toward building a playground for everyone.
